Where and How We Meet

I meet with clients via telehealth over a secure video platform. You will need a stable wifi connection, private space, and video-enabled device to join sessions. I do not offer in-person services at this time.

Mental health providers, like most other health care providers, are regulated and licensed on a state-by-state basis. I am licensed to provide services in Washington State, meaning you will need to be physically present in Washington State when you attend counseling sessions or receive other services from me.

Paying For Therapy

I accept payment via credit, debit, FSA, or HSA card. Clients enroll in automatic payments via Stripe, a HIPAA-secure billing platform that will process and store all card transaction details.

As a member of Agate Therapy Group, I can accept Premera, LifeWise, and most Blue Cross Blue Shield and Elevance (previously called Anthem) plans for individual counseling. I am also an out-of-network (OON) provider for many other insurance plans. If your insurance plan includes OON benefits, you will initially pay for your therapy services but I can provide you with invoices (“superbills”) that you can then submit to your insurance provider to seek reimbursement for a percentage of the costs.

Please note, couples/relationship counseling services are private pay only.

I am able to offer a designated number of sliding scale spots as part of my commitment to helping ensure equitable access to high-quality services for those who can’t afford full-fee rates. Please inquire about the availability of a sliding scale spot if you believe session fees could be a barrier to receiving necessary treatment.

Using Out-Of-Network (OON) Benefits:

Prior to beginning therapy, contact your insurance to inquire if they offer OON reimbursement benefits. Asking the following questions can help you understand how much you should expect to pay out of pocket:

  • How much do you reimburse for CPT code 90791 (for an intake assessment) and 90837 (for ongoing individual counseling) if the provider is OON?

  • Do I have a deductible to meet? If so, how much?

  • How much can I expect to pay per session after I meet my deductible?

  • Is there a limit on the number of sessions I’m allowed?

  • How quickly will I receive reimbursement after submitting a superbill?

Ready to get started? Here’s what you can expect.

  • Get in touch with me via phone or text at (206) 627-0874, email at darby@deeproots-counseling.com, or using the contact form on my website. I do my best to respond within 1-2 business days, whenever possible.

  • In order for therapy to be effective, it’s important for you to feel comfortable with your therapist. We will schedule an initial consultation which will give us an opportunity to meet, ask questions, and see how well we might work together.

I offer two options for our initial consultation and invite you to choose whichever option best suits your needs. Our initial consultation can be either:

    1. A free 15 minute phone call — There is no paperwork associated with this meeting.

This option may appeal to someone who is planning to interview multiple therapists or someone who knows what they are looking for in a therapist and believes they can get any information they need from a brief phone call.

    2. A regular session-length (50 minute) virtual meeting offered at a reduced fee of $50 — You will need to complete some brief paperwork prior to this meeting.

This option may appeal to someone who feels fairly confident they want to work with me, someone who wants to get a realistic feel for what a telehealth session with me could be like, or someone who is eager to get started!

Regardless of which option you choose, if it feels like we may be a good fit, the next step is to schedule your first official session.

  • I will send you any remaining intake paperwork (depending on which consultation option you chose) to complete prior to the appointment. If you have any questions about the forms, please don’t hesitate to ask.

We will review your intake paperwork together and make sure we share a clear understanding of how our professional relationship will work and what each of us can expect.

Once we’ve covered our bases, we can dive into what brings you to therapy.

  • I meet with clients weekly at the onset of therapy in order to develop a strong rapport and build momentum. Having your appointment at the same time each week gives us routine and predictability. If desired, we can discuss tapering sessions as progress is made and symptoms ease.

If you have unique scheduling needs, please let me know so we can discuss possible accommodations.
